1. Schedule a 30-45 minutes meeting.
Mark this step as "complete for all" once the meeting is scheduled.
2. Gather design principles.
Start by going over all of the insights with your team, make sure everyone has at least 5 minutes to read all of the insights. You can use a timer to facilitate the meeting. Using all of the insights as a reference, start brainstorming design principles. If you are not familiar with design principles, take a minute to learn about them and discuss them with your team. What are design principles? Design principles are actionable and forward-looking statements. Usually use verbs. All design principles should be statements that can support any concept exploration and should be a fundamental piece of advice for you and your team to follow and apply to your product, design, actions, etc. A few examples: Nurture self-love by detoxifying the emotional environment and progress toward a healthy workspace.** Ensure users can easily undo/redo actions**. Don’t make users remember information** – keep options, etc., visible.
3. Find three to ten high-level design principles.
If you only had a few ideas, try to brainstorm for a second time. Ask these questions: What actions should we take to support these insights? What seems to be important to our clients (our users), and what actions will help us guide our decisions? What actions would help us build alignment among our team? If you already have a list of 12 principles or more, find three to ten high-level principles. Which principles seem to be very important? Which ones will help the team during the ideation and decision-making? Summarize and organize your design principles and add all of the related insights below each principle. Keep the board and each principle visible- make sure this is a board that team members feel comfortable going back to.
