1. Discuss Session Goals / Instructions (Optional)
In this step, add additional information or notes. The team may add their questions here.
2. The description of the idea, project, or solution
Describe your idea, project, or solution here. This description should respond to the questions: What do you do? Try to create a short description. You should be able to say it in less than one minute (the average person speaks somewhere between 120 and 150 words per minute).
3. The value
What do you want your audience to remember about you? How do you want to be recognized and remembered? What makes people excited about your idea, project, etc.? What makes you excited?
4. Your unique selling proposition (USP)
You can develop this one quickly here or open a new session to explore this further using the USP tool. Describe what characteristics make your idea or project appealing to your audience and what is different from the competition.
5. Develop the description
Now explore and edit your description even further by adding context, the main characteristics of the idea, a call to action, and information to make it interesting.
6. Mix and match until the description is exciting
If you are working on this session with your team, don’t be afraid to take things from your teammates and make your description better. Edit until you are satisfied.
7. Engage with a question
Make sure to create a question that is engaging and appealing to your target audience and can get the audience involved. Example: "How does your organization handle the ideation process?" instead of "Do you have ideation processes?" The second question does not invite the audience to get involved; they will just answer yes or no."
8. The initial elevator pitch
In this step, you have all the information and a variety of options. Pull it all together by selecting the best answers and developing the best pitch. You can use your answer and everyone else’s. The goal is to evolve and mix the ideas and key concepts that everyone highlights to create a compelling and bold pitch. Reduce it to 20 to 50 seconds (30 to 90 words). Read it aloud before you move to the next step. Edit your suggestion/suggestions until you are happy with your pitch and add it to the poll. NOTE: The session/team lead can give everyone a timeframe to participate.
9. Vote for the best pitch
Vote for the best pitch. The engaging and persuasive pitch should win.
10. Pitch it again (Optional)
If there are two or more options with an equal number of votes, the members voting for each pitch will have two to five minutes to develop their pitch further and add it here to vote again. You can use a chat solution, like Slack or Google Hangouts if necessary. NOTE: Sometimes the Session/Team Lead will decide to explore the selected pitch even further and get everyone involved in the development of that pitch. The Session/Team Lead should add instructions to this step.
11. Start your powerpoint on Google Drive/Share Drive
