About this process

Mind mapping is a visual thinking tool that can help you generate ideas and develop concepts when the relationship among many pieces of related information are unclear. The goal is to strengthen concepts and their interconnections, with the objective of creating new knowledge and understanding - or/and spark new ideas. To draw a mind map follow these tips: Identify a focus question to serve as the central piece and you will effectively keep the conversation and the mapping process. Star drawing extensions outward from the center of the map and label them with simple verb-nouns (like design, why, solutions) The closer an image or a word is from the center the more importance it takes on in your map. Those will be the primary connections. Once you have all the primary connections, each of those will reveal deeper and more granular levels of secondary information. Make sure you connect primary and secondary connections with lines or arrows. Keep connecting ideas. As information comes up - add it to the map. Ideal for: visualize concepts, ideation, discussion, illustrate processes, etc
