1. Decide what type of emails are you going to be developing
- Nurturing email/email sequence: A nurturing email or sequence of email that will introduces your company to the audience.
- Rapport email/email sequence: A email or a sequence of emails to build rapport.
- Conversion email/email sequence: This email or email sequence includes a call of action to ultimately engage in a conversation. You do that by asking your potential user to book a call.
- Follow-up email/email sequence: Create a sequence of emails touch base with your user or potential user. Usually, you follow up after a few attempts without any answers.
- Welcome email: Say thank you to your new user for signing in.
- Newsletters or informative email: Provide information about the company, your product and events.
2. What metrics are you using to measure success?
Here a few examples: Open rates:** This can provide insight into the success of your subject line copy. The average open rate is between 14% and 24%. Marketing companies recommend using subscribers’ first names (because they are 26% more likely to open the email) or keep subject lines short and add a few emoticons. In our opinion, try to shoot for 25% and improve from there. Click-through rate (CTR):** This will help you understand how engaged your user is by getting an idea of how many people clicked on the links in your email. Conversion rate:** How many people clicked your link and then completed a specific action like a sign in. Unsubscribe:** How many people from your email list have unsubscribed. This should help you to tune your subscriber list and find ways to evaluate who really likes your content. Make sure you always give people a clear choice to unsubscribe. Engagement over time** Revenue per email** Repeat opens** Time spent reading the email** ROI (return on investment):* Take the money you made in sales from the campaign or your email sequence minus the money you spent to execute the campaign, and divide it by the amount of money invested in this email campaign, and then multiply that by 100. ((money made-money spent)/money invested)100
3. What actions will stop a sequence?
Think about the process! Your audience or new subscriber opens an email. This is the first email, maybe you ask them a question. 2 people respond: "How do you have my email? Please remove me from your email list", 1 person has opened the email 4 times, another person spends 15 minutes reading your email and she went to your website. Would any of these actions change how are you going to continue the conversation? Think about the kind of actions that will change or stop the sequence.
4. Create a research board
Add emails from your competitors: What are they talking about? How often do they send emails? Add email templates, subject lines, and graphics that you like. Discuss the research board with your team.
5. Map-out your email sequence
Open the board and use our current template or change it to better fit your organization and your process. Tips: We often add A/B testing We often add images
6. Provide a link to a document with all your tracking data
Add your google doc link or a direct link to the software you are using to manage these campaigns. A few recommendations: Mailchimp Hubspot Apollo
