1. What's your current goal?
Try to be specific. When you say: "we want to grow our business" define "grow your business" A goal is a general statement of what you want to achieve in a specific time and for a specific reason. Examples of good business goals are: Increase profit margins Increase efficiency Provide better customer service Reduce carbon emissions Reduce cost by improving our employee training Increase our number of sales per year Increase the number of times clients buy from us
2. What's your objective?
A Business Objective helps turn the goal into a specific and quantifiable statement of what is going to be achieved and when it will be achieved. Example: Increase market share by 15% over the next year. Reduce the call-back time of customers inquiries and questions to 8 hours or less. These objectives are providing information about how are you going to measure success.
3. Start the discussion following the instructions of the Session Lead/Manager.
On the board, you will be discussing the following topics: You will review a few business strategies and select those ones that could be considered by your team. You will discuss and evaluate those strategies. You will create and fill out our the "Goals, Objectives, Metrics & Action Plan Template".

- How do you measure success?
- "Increase efficiency" or "Reduce cost by improving our employee training" Is your goal easy to understand? Does it assist at responding to how your business mission will achieve the vision? Is it aligned with the values of the organization and all the employees? Is it flexible? Could you adapt quickly?
- Statements of specific actions and activities that will be used to achieve your goal. Example: The marketing department will create and implement a plan to increase sales in Canada. This plan will include sales training and in-depth user analysis.
- Objective
- The objective specifies the following: What is going to be achieved? When? Why? Who? Check: What specifically will be achieved? Is it possible? What resources would you need? Are people committed to achieving this objective? How? Are people responsible for achieving the objective? Think about the level of ownership they have.
