About this process
This tool helps you to prepare the questions for dialogue research. Dialogue Research is a Technique to put a bunch of ideas in front of a person and get them to talk about their experiences and beliefs. This method is ideal to start a productive & valuable conversation about a topic. Important: Use this tool whoever you have an in-person interview. If you are using a "Nova board" during the interview use our tool "dialogue interview tool" instead of this tool.

1. Review Target Audience
Review the target audience for the interview. Try to be specific: "North American woman between ages 20 to 35, lives in the city, doesn't have kids, works 9 to 5 job, and are interested in staying healthy" This will include things like Location, Sex, Age range, Life Style, Hobbies, Interest, Fears, Dreams, and Hopes. To Identify your audience use our tool "Define your Audience" Optionally add this tool to your project: https://www.novatools.org/tool/krDvxuF9oAFJcoNJs
2. What's the goal of this research study?
Write down the goal of this research study. What are you investigating?
3. What's your current hypothesis?
4. List conversation options
Now list as many interesting options as you can to start a conversation. For example, if you wanted to start a conversation about how people shop for X: If you had a lot of money how would you shop for X? If you could choose any store to go to for X, which one would it be? If you could only choose to own one X, which would it be? How many X do you own? If you want a deeper answer make sure you have open follow-up questions like: What is the reason behind that? What’s the purpose of that? How do you feel about doing that? What would you change about X?
5. Write down hypotheses for each conversation option
Use the board to write down one or more hypotheses about how you think people will answer the questions from the previous step. What should I do once I am done preparing the interview? Conduct the interview using the Interview dialogue tool.
