About this process

The Zoo is an innovative and engaging team-building activity designed to foster communication, creativity, and understanding within your team. This game leverages metaphorical thinking, allowing participants to role-play and discuss their roles and experiences in a fun and imaginative way.

1. 👀 What role [did/do] you have to play when [what/where]? And why?

In The Zoo activity, team members are asked to metaphorically compare their roles within the company or in various situations to roles within a zoo.

This can be used in multiple contexts:

Role Explanation:

•Prompt: "If the company (or team) you work for was a zoo, what would your role be and why?"
•Objective: Helps team members creatively describe their roles and responsibilities.

Personal Insight:

•Prompt: "If life was a zoo, who are you in that zoo, and what role have you taken on to move through life and why?"
•Objective: Encourages participants to share personal insights and foster deeper connections.

Conflict Resolution:

•Prompt: "In the last project, given some challenges we faced, think of the situation as a zoo. What role did you have to play to keep the zoo running and why?"
2. 🦜Roles

🤵🦸‍♂‍🧜🐮🐻🦜You will see some example cards on the board, but participants are not limited to those.

For instance, if someone says, "I was a firefighter because the zoo was on fire and I had to stop it because..." or, "I played a parrot because I keep repeating the same thing over and over and get the same questions every month." that's perfectly fine. The cards are merely examples of the different roles needed in a zoo.

How many? You can choose one or two.
