1. Brainstorming Area

Start the session by exploring different ideas.

2. Brainstorming Rules

🤯😌Encourage Wild Ideas

Emphasize that there are no bad ideas. The more unconventional, the better. Creativity thrives when participants feel free to think outside the box.

👀👄 Defer Judgment

Hold back any criticism or negative feedback. Judgment stifles the creative flow, so keep it constructive and focus on building ideas.

💫Build on Ideas

Use “yes, and…” instead of “yes, but…” to expand on others’ ideas. Collaboration can take an initial thought to new, unexpected heights.

👻Stay Focused on the Topic

Keep discussions relevant and centered around the main goal to maintain productivity. Use a timer or a facilitator to guide the session back on track if necessary.

👇👇👇 Encourage Quantity Over Quality (at least initially)

The objective is to generate as many ideas as possible. High quantity often leads to high quality as you dig deeper into creative possibilities.

👨‍🚀🧑‍🎤🧑‍⚕‍One Conversation at a Time: Avoid side discussions and interruptions. Giving each idea the spotlight ensures everyone feels heard and valued.

🧠Embrace Diversity of Thought

Welcome participants with different perspectives and backgrounds. This variety can lead to more innovative and well-rounded solutions.

⏲Set Time Limits

Assign a specific amount of time for brainstorming sessions to keep the energy up and maintain a sense of urgency.

🎙Capture Every Idea

Write down every idea shared during the session. Even if it seems insignificant, it could spark further ideas or be developed later.

These rules help create a productive environment where participants feel encouraged to contribute and collaborate.

3. The importance of...

The importance of any idea, task, or initiative is not absolute—it’s always relative to the context of other things competing for attention, resources, or time. Think of it like priorities on a scale: something only becomes "more important" when compared to what else could be done instead.

When considering new ideas or things to do, it’s crucial to evaluate them against:

•Current Priorities – How does this idea align with or impact what’s already in progress? Will it replace something, enhance it, or compete for the same resources?
•Potential Impact – Compared to other ideas, does this one offer greater benefits, solve bigger problems, or open up better opportunities?
•Resources and Time – What’s required to execute this idea? Are there enough resources, or would it strain the capacity needed for other ongoing efforts?
•Alignment with Goals – How does this idea stack up against the team’s or organization’s broader objectives?

Then organize all your sticky notes base on the following criteria:

1.Nice-to-Have or Nice-to-Do: These are tasks or ideas that could be beneficial but, on the scale of importance, are not the focus right now. They are secondary and can be considered later if resources and time allow.
2.Important: These are tasks or ideas categorized as significant, with a high priority on the scale of importance. However, due to other priorities or dependencies, they may not be prioritized immediately but should be revisited at a suitable time.
3.Must-Have or Must-Do: These are the top priorities—tasks or initiatives that are critical and need to be completed within the next period. They take precedence over everything else.

Without comparison, it’s easy to overvalue new ideas simply because they’re fresh and exciting, or undervalue existing work because it feels routine. However, by systematically comparing new ideas with what’s already in progress or under consideration, you ensure that your efforts are focused on the most impactful and strategic options.

This approach isn’t about dismissing creativity or innovation—it’s about ensuring that decisions are grounded in the reality of limited time, resources, and the need to maximize outcomes.

1. Hi, thank you for joining this discussion. I would like to brainstorm about [ what? ]

The objective of this session is to 👉👉discuss and brainstorm initial ideas to [what] 🙏

This is a collaborative session, so it feels a lot like a meeting(but without adding another meeting to your calendar). For example, you can see other people's answers and build on each other's ideas. You can even see each other's cursors if you end up crossing paths in this session. Of course, if you feel like joining a quick conversation with someone in the session, you can always join the voice call and say 'hi!'.

Let me give you some context.👇 [ ADD AN LINK AND VIDEO(Loom/Youtube) ]

You can also find all the documents and information here. Document link

Help me evaluate how you feel about it. This makes you excited or do you think we should prioritize something else?

2. 🤯 Let's start sharing ideas! How might we [achieve the objective]?

Add one idea/suggestion per sticky note. 🔥🙏

Keep those notes short. I/We will contact you if I have questions or I need additional details.

Add sticky notes
3. Let's go back to step 2!

Read everyone's ideas and suggestions and select/react 👍 at least three that you think are great! If there are some ideas that should be avoided, please react 😩 and let us know so we can start evaluating things with a collective perspective.

💬💫👉 Any comments or explanations about why you have reacted to the ones you have? Please leave those comments here; it helps us understand your thinking process and what you see that may be invisible to us.

4. 🙈 What do we know that doesn't work or should be avoided?

What can we learn from past mistakes or others' mistakes? Please let me know if something comes to mind. In general, we want to have a good list of things to avoid doing before we start exploring ideas together. If nothing comes to mind, please skip this step.

5. 🪴 What seed might we plant together today that could make the most difference to (situation/product/strategy/client...) and better leverage our strengths?

Skip if you don't have anything to add. 🪴

6. Any questions?

I will go through all of your comments and answers once the session is closed and will address all of your questions and concerns a few days later. If you have a question that requires an immediate answer, you can contact me through Slack.

🔥You can add additional comments here. What else should I be asking you? What else should I be thinking about? What else whould I consider? What challenges or obstacles do you foresee in implementing this plan? What conditions must be met, and what resources will we need to succeed?
